Empowered by Purpose, Defined by Resilience: Forging a Trail of Triumph Towards Inclusive Change

Jonathan Heider Laedtke is an accessibility consultant, keynote speaker, and advocate whose life and career are rooted in transforming how we design and experience the built environment. Born a congenital quad amputee, Jonathan has spent a lifetime navigating the world with a disability—giving him an unmatched perspective on what truly inclusive design looks and feels like.

With degrees in Architecture and Real Estate Development, Jonathan built his career in architectural firms where his work focused primarily on accessibility in senior living facilities, commercial buildings, and public-use spaces. Over several years in the field, he became deeply familiar with a wide range of accessibility regulations. This includes the ADA, ANSI standards, the Architectural Barriers Act, and the North American Building Code. Jonathan has developed a reputation for translating complex codes into impactful, real-world design solutions.

“I am so honored to call you my friend and inspired by you to be the best me and provide the best experiences for our partners, our clients and the LamontCo team. I already knew what a prized gem you are to our world, and now the rest of the world is starting to see it more too!” ~John Defee

Jonathan brings together technical expertise and personal experience to challenge traditional assumptions about disability and design. He now consults with cities, destinations, hospitality groups, and design teams to go beyond compliance and create spaces that empower all people to engage fully and equitably.

Whether he’s advising on a development project or speaking on stage, Jonathan invites professionals to shift their perspective from accessibility as a checklist to accessibility as a powerful design ethos rooted in equity, dignity, and innovation.
